
Admission Requirements
Any young American who is eligible may apply. You are eligible if you are:
- A U.S. citizen
- Unmarried with no dependents or financial debt
- 17-22 years of age upon entry (the next class reports 27 June 2005)
- A high school graduate or GED recipient
Admission is selective. You will compete with other applicants for appointment. To be considered for admission, you must:
Submit a complete application by 01 March of the year of entrance. This includes:
- A complete on-line application
- High school transcript
- Math teacher recommendation
- English teacher recommendation
- Coach or PE instructor recommendation
- Commanding Officer recommendation (if serving in the military)
- Official college transcript (if you are or were in college)
- Physical Fitness Evaluation
- Official SAT I or ACT test results
Special note: SAT I or ACT tests taken after 31 January of the year of entry will not be accepted. Standardized test results taken with any special accommodation (e.g., extra time) will not be accepted. For the Class of 2010 and beyond, the Academy will require submission of standardized writing results. The College Board will add a standardized writing test to its new SAT beginning in March 2005.
Additionally, to be eligible for the Early Action Program (a guaranteed response from the Academy no later than 15 December) you must:
- Submit a complete application by 01 November the year before entry
- Be a first time applicant
- Be in high school or in the military
By 15 April of the year of entry, take a medical exam administered by the Department of Defense Medical Exam Review Board (DODMERB) and be found Qualified by 01 June. The Academy will give you instructions on how to complete the Medical Exam at an appropriate point in the process. If you wait until 01 March to submit your application, it may be difficult to comply with these deadlines. Your best option is to apply early. If you take this exam for another military program, you do not have to repeat the exam.
